Serum Protein by Capillary Electrophoresis

High throughput Serum Protein Electrophoresis, with high resolution results.

About Serum Protein by Capillary Electrophoresis

Serum Protein Electrophoresis is a well-established technique routinely used in clinical laboratories to screen samples to detect protein abnormalities such as monoclonal gammopathies (Multiple Myeloma, MGUS, Waldenström disease).

Key benefits

Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) delivers high-quality results through full automation on capillary instruments, supporting clinicians at every stage of the myeloma patient journey.
  • Fully automated testing

for qualitative or quantitative analysis with fast serum protein separation and good resolution.

  • Direct visualization of Serum Protein profile

for quick screening and identification of abnormal patterns.

  • Separation into major protein fractions

CAPI 3 PROTEIN(E) 6 kit enables the separation into six major fractions: Albumin, Alpha-1, Alpha-2, Beta-1, Beta-2, Gamma.

  • Ability to quantify abnormal peaks in two modes

Valley to valley or Baseline to top.

Main characteristics

Test principle

Serum Proteins are separated in silica capillaries by their electrophoretic mobility and the electroosmotic flow at high voltage in an alkaline buffer. Proteins are directly detected during migration by UV absorbance at 200 nm and quantified by the peak quantification tool.

Performances

  • Full traceability and positive sample ID from primary tube samples
  • Full traceability and reagents management through RFID tags
  • Color-coded backlit reagent containers
  • Rapid validation via 96 profile mosaic display

Sensitivity

  • Monoclonal protein can be detected at a concentration as low as 19 mg/dL.
  • According to the mobility of the monoclonal component and polyclonal background, the sensitivity may vary.

Large autonomy

  • Samples up to 528 tubes (with tube loader)
  • > 2.5 hours protein testing
