EurA1c: a review of 9 years performance of up to 5120 laboratories in 29 country and 26 manufacturer groups

The EurA1c study reviewed nine years of external quality assessment (EQA) data from up to 5,120 laboratories across 29 countries, providing one of the most comprehensive evaluations of HbA1c testing performance worldwide. 
The results demonstrate that HbA1c measurement has achieved a high level of standardization and stable analytical performance over the last decade. At the same time, the study highlights that differences between countries and manufacturers still exist, emphasizing the ongoing importance of quality assurance and method performance assessment.
These findings reinforce the value of participating in EQA programs and selecting HbA1c methodologies that consistently deliver accurate and reliable results to support both diabetes diagnosis and long-term patient management. The long-term performance data also illustrate the ability of several manufacturer platforms, including Sebia systems, to maintain high analytical quality within large-scale international EQA programs.
