Understanding the Limitations of Haemoglobinopathy Testing Technologies
Learn about the strengths and limitations of the analytical technologies commonly used in haemoglobinopathy screening and diagnosis.
External Quality Assessment is an established component of quality assurance in laboratory medicine; however, a high-quality, educationally oriented EQA program offers the laboratory far more than the fulfilment of the requirements of ISO 15189 standards. Each exercise provides a learning opportunity and a chance to examine patterns of laboratory practices. This webinar will draw on EQA data and selected EQA case studies to illustrate the collective benefits of EQA in haemoglobinopathy testing, extending beyond the simple identification of laboratories which results that deviate from the consensus.
Attendance at this webinar will support the following learning outcomes:
Learn about the strengths and limitations of the analytical technologies commonly used in haemoglobinopathy screening and diagnosis.
Discover how External Quality Assessment (EQA) programs help laboratories implement haemoglobinopathy screening guidelines and improve testing quality.
Explore real-world EQA data and case studies that highlight learning opportunities, promote consistency in laboratory practice, and enhance diagnostic performance.
Good EQA or proficiency testing is more than just an annual tick-box exercise, especially in a complex specialty such as hemoglobinopathies.
