Unlocking the power of anti-MCV detection for early diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Traditional tests for Rheumatoid Arthritis detect the autoantibodies rheumatoid factor and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP). But neither test identifies all patients with the disorder, especially in the early stages when intervention can prevent more serious disease later. This session will discuss the role of citrullination in RA, the evolution of anti-CCP assays, and the search for antibodies to individual citrullinated proteins which may be used to complement anti-CCP in the diagnosis and management of RA. The utility of antibody to the mutated version of citrullinated vimentin will be highlighted.

About Dr. Holger Bang

Dr. Holger Bang is Project Leader of the Euro TEAM (Towards Early Diagnosis and Biomarker Validation in Arthritis Management) initiative and serves as Senior Scientific Advisor at Sebia.

He previously held the position of Director of Research and Clinical Affairs at ORGENTEC Diagnostika GmbH, now part of the Sebia Group, and was Head of Research & Development at the Protein Folding Lab of the Max Planck Institute in Halle, Germany.

With an extensive scientific track record, Dr. Bang has authored 104 peer-reviewed publications and his work has been cited more than 4,000 times, reflecting his significant contributions to biomarker research and the diagnosis and management of autoimmune diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis.
